It's a helluva lot easier than taking the back off, rotating it and re-mounting it. Less risk of dust or damage to the IR filter plus all the menus, leads and access to CF card remain upright.

It is really easy, takes 2-3 smooth throws with your thumb (or finger, there are two dials). I'll see if I can get a clip up quickly.

For the RZ we make a rotating adapter (for V, M/P1 and H backs) but think about ALPA, Arca-Swiss, Cambo, Sinar, Linhof etc. plus RB, Bronica and all those 500-series cameras out there!!!

I fully agree with Yair. I am using the Leaf AFi-II 7 with rotating sensor and it works like a charm. I would not consider the solution of taking off the back, turning and mounting it again. Too much risk for dust etc. The rotating sensor is a brilliant idea.

List price of the Aptus II 10R is $32,494.

The original Aptus II 10 remains in the lineup of course, but its price was lowered from $32,494 to $30,490.

There are trade-in opportunities for both of these units.

SUPER!  I now have the Leaf 75 back and Alpa frame.  Sounds great to be able to rotate without taking the back off.  But, I am wondering how they hold the very precision position of the sensor.  I use a very thin shim between the present back and adapter for precise focus.  Is there any test info yet?

Hi Dave,

Leaf has been using rotation sensors since 1998. These backs were the Leaf Volare, Cantare and Cantare XY. More recently we used this technology in the AFi-II 7 and AFi-II 10 camera systems.
The mechanism is very simply and very robust, with very high level of precision and no apparent compromise in terms of accuracy.

+1. Surprisingly, without issues whatsoever. Works like a dream.

It is great that leaf comes out with new backs....but why don't they reply to emails ( I send 3 over the last week or so)..... asking a very simple question: how much do I have to pay when upgrading my 65 for a II-6

maybe you (YAYA) can make sure I get someone contacting me!

thanks

Hi Nicolaas,

I'm not sure which part of the world you are in and/ or whom did you send the email to, but we usually respond very quickly. Please bear in mind that some of us were on the road during the Volcano disaster with limited email access...

Anyway, the trade-in from an Aptus 65 to an Aptus-II 6 in Europe is listed at €7,996

Maybe you could see how long it takes to get a quote from us :-). I bet it's pretty quick :-).

I would definitely agree it's a good idea to take a thorough look at Hasselblad in addition to Leaf. They make great products with their own set of advantages and disadvantages. I would also selfishly add Phase One to that list of things to look at. I also strongly advocate finding the right product for your needs and then trying to find the best deal, rather than vice versa. A great deal for equipment that doesn't well suit what you do is not a good deal at all. Note that we (Capture Integration) sell Leaf and Phase One but not Hasselblad.
