Hooray! Now just revive the AFi camera and everything will be good again

Seriously though, a good effort to revive a good idea, but in practice how easily does the rotation dial work? Is it geared or do you need to spin it a full 90 degrees? It's nice (and surprising) to see owners of older square format cameras being considered and catered for with this product. But aren't there already rotating plates for the RZ made by Kapture Group etc?

It is good to see an other company creating a back any V system user was hoping for. Hasselblad made a 39Mp back that can not be rotated: so if you want vertical images, simply rotate your 503CW..... hello, what are they thinking? Looks like a great back for all V-adaptable camera's. Well done Leaf, you keep surprising me.

Ben

It's a helluva lot easier than taking the back off, rotating it and re-mounting it. Less risk of dust or damage to the IR filter plus all the menus, leads and access to CF card remain upright.

It is really easy, takes 2-3 smooth throws with your thumb (or finger, there are two dials). I'll see if I can get a clip up quickly.

For the RZ we make a rotating adapter (for V, M/P1 and H backs) but think about ALPA, Arca-Swiss, Cambo, Sinar, Linhof etc. plus RB, Bronica and all those 500-series cameras out there!!!

The back with the only internal rotating sensor on the market....

They have forgotten the Cantare XY

I like the idea for the H. Solves the dreaded lack of a vertical grip as well

Not for the H though (or any 645 format camera). There are some limitations which restrict that solution. The vertical grip issue will be solved for Phase One 645 users however with the upcoming vertical grip....

Pity. I was hoping that:

i) it would be using a 56x42mm sensor, (but it's the same odd format 56x36mm they have used in the past)
ii) the back would support the AFi/Hy6, but it doesn't.

Hi Evgeny,

The simple answer is no but perhaps Sinar can now make new mounts for the M as they've done for the arTec?!

well done... but still need the synchro cable ?

on one hand you have the hasselblad's back that does't need the cable but can't turn, on the other you need the cable...

By the way,

i quite like my 50 CFi, 80 CB, 100 CFi with my 22MP back... but my rodenstock lenses on my RM3D are sharper already with my aptus 22...
so how do V lenses perform with a 56MP back ? compare to mamiya 645 AFD ?

Yes and I personally prefer having a single cable that allows me to change shutter speed on any mechanical lens as I go and to shoot spontaneously over any other signal-transfer method...

Gosh... I've done a full circle initially starting from the humble Leaf 11mp.  Hope there is a good trade-in for my CF39:  "the parable of the podigal son"

Well done...!
