Recently I reported seeing a pinkish tinge to some grey tones when editing grayscale images on my NEC Spectraview Reference 2690 display. I thought I had the problem sussed, but it crept back. Well, now I do know how to resolve it, but I don't know why, and would love some advice.
If I change the color engine in Photoshops's Color Settings from Adobe ACE to Microsoft ICM (I'm running WIndows XP) the problem goes away. Just like that. It seems the Adobe CMM and Microsoft's CMM are conflicting for some reason. Either that, or I'm somehow getting a double profile with the Adobe engine. To complicate matters, the issue only occurs with 16-bit images, and not 8-bit (I didn't realise this before, since I usually work in 16-bit).
I don't have Adobe Gamma or any other gamma loader installed, apart from the Spectraview profile loader. Does anybody out there have any light to shed on this puzzling problem?
Thanks in advance
