Before you tell me to look, I already did. Maybe I am looking the info right in it's face ( pixels? ) but I cannot seem to locate any information about posting rules, etc., for this forum. A link would be GREAT!

Keep your hands above the equator and go to a neutral corner when the ref tells you to.  Other than that I think it is just don't piss off MR.

There may be rules but I don't know that I've ever seen them...

Those seem more than adequate rules - I'd go with that.

I think that indeed those rules are sufficient.

You may also recall the Board Guidelines that you acknowledged having read when you registered.

Should you need a refresher, just log out and then hit the 'Register' link at the top of the main page.

They should be available when you're posting.  That's when you're angry.

It would probably be a nice idea to collect some stuff together for a sticky topic.  Generally speaking anything that reeks of shameless self promotion is frowned upon, and if you are not Michael or one of his approved gang, don't try to sell anything here.  A final unwritten rule would probably be, don't ask questions until you have made some substantive effort at research and understanding.  This really isn't a place that is highly welcoming for complete amateurs.

There is the Beginner's Forum, tho.  So they can ask away in there.

True.  Though it isn't the most well-read forum.  As of today, there haven't been any posts for ten days.  That probably isn't by accident.

I'm not saying I know, and I'm probably breaking some rule 100% of the time.

My posts haven't all been good.

No one has ever been a jerk to me and I'm a beginner.

I've even had a few 1000 view posts, and have been given advice I couldn't buy.

I respectfully disagree that this board doesn't let an amateur be a jacka$$ at least on occasion, and think most if not all disrespectful or asinine commentary seems directed toward those that deserve it
but for sure you artist types are quirky

Thanks all for the comments and advice. I guess if there are no "formal" rules, common sense etiquette should get me by. I am not new this website as I registered a few years ago, but have never taken to posting here.

I am not new to digital photography or post processing, I am personally not new either, being just shy of the 50 year mark... Crap, how did that happen... I guess I am only new to posting here.

I shoot Canon, process largely with Photoshop, like long walks on the beach at sunset, oops, wrong board....

Thanks for the pointers guys,

Paul

For once, I can claim innocence: though I'm certainly old enough to have been responsible, I never ever saw Southern California! Maybe it was that welcoming hotel had something to do with it?

Welcome to the list, Paul!

Mike.

"All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten

Most of what I really need to know about how to live and what to do, and how to be, I learned in kindergarten. Wisdom was not at the top of the graduate school mountain, but there in the sandbox at nursery school.

These are the things I learned:

Share everything.

Play fair.

Don't hit people.

Put things back where you found them.

Clean up your own mess.

Don't take things that aren't yours.

Say you're sorry when you hurt somebody.

Wash your hands before you eat.

Flush.

Warm cookies and cold milk are good for you.

Live a balanced life.

Learn some and think some and draw and paint and sing and dance and play and work every day some.

Take a nap every afternoon.

When you go out into the world, watch for traffic, hold hands and stick together.

Be aware of wonder.

Remember the little seed in the plastic cup? The roots go down and the plant goes up and nobody really knows how or why, but we are all like that. Goldfish and hamsters and white mice and even the little seed in the plastic cup -- they all die. So do we.

And then remember the book about Dick and Jane and the first word you learned, the biggest word of all: look.

Everything you need to know is in there somewhere. The Golden Rule and love and basic sanitation. Ecology and politics and sane living.

Think what a better world it would be if we all -- the whole world -- had cookies and milk about 3 o'clock every afternoon and then lay down with our blankets for a nap. Or if we had a basic policy in our nation and other nations to always put things back where we found them and cleaned up our own messes. And it is still true, no matter how old you are, when you go out into the world, it is best to hold hands and stick together."

It is hard to find.
