Post inspiring stuff here..
« on: March 23, 2010, 11:32:33 am »

If it's ok by Michael I'd like to start this thread for everyone to post inspiring stuff they find and would like to share. Anything goes.. photos, movies, websites, design, whatever. As we all know inspiration for photography can come from many different things. I also think we have enough tech threads on this forum and could use a little more creative stuff. Try to be very selective though or this thread might become unmanageable very quickly.

I'll kick things off with Spike Jonze's short movie I'M HERE - A love story in an absolute world. You can watch the whole movie for free on the website.

Cheers.

If anyone wants to inspire posts about anything, they reply to a post/topic on the same subject or start a new topic... and there is the coffee corner to keep other topics clear posts that are (perhaps) interesting but not informative.

Wow! That was interesting! Thanks ASMP for the link.   I kept thinking about Ray Kurtzweil's books  like "The Age of Spiritual Machines" while watching.  The face animation work was great.

This is one of the most amazing things I have seen in years  - it is almost impossible to believe that 99% of it is rendered rather than composited, and the dude didn't just design the buildings and render them, he also wrote the music. Some of the people I showed it to were in tears, really...

Enjoy.

Yeah, I think someone posted that on this forum a while ago, it's absolutely stunning. Here's a link to probably the best collection of amazing photographers I've ever come across, updated on a monthly basis: http://newindustryarts.com Enjoy.

I was going to post graeme mitchel's site and skye parrot, butr thyey are both on the newindustry link you posted.  Graeme is really a street photographer.  A really smart guy who I believe studied literature.  You can see the influence of Joyce, maybe som eProust, on his street shooting, which is found on his blog.

I like Sebastian Kim, particularly his Italidisco portraits.  www.sebastiankim.com  Glad to see he just shot some recent Calvin Klein work, CK Body, perhaps?

I'll try to find the link I have to most of Nadar's portraits.

I would post a link to Poalo R.'s Studio book, but I don't think its on-line.  It really is amazing.

This should fit the category: Celebrate What's Right with the World, by Dewitt Jones.

Dick,

Show some images instead of only talking about gear. This forum is boring as hell now. So the few times I visit, something more than geek is desirable.
Have you not noted that I have been too il to get out and take many photos since I bought my H3D?

Have you not seen the photos I have uploaded?

Have you not seen the three pictures I have posted this week?

If you think the forum is boring, make a constructive contribution.

Very nice, this is the kind of stuff I was hoping to see! Over 1000 hits and only a handful posts is a bit disappointing though, but I hope the thread stays alive.

Yesterday a new film was premiered in NY. Got great reviews, may be someone can post a link & if they saw it.
  " Bill Cunningham New York".
He is the photographer who shoots street fashion & is regularly published in NY Times. His story sounds fascinating, at least to me.

Indeed a great book, a new edition is out:  http://www.steidlville.com/books/168-Studio.html

Another favorite: http://www.steidlville.com/books/500-The-Roma-Journeys.html

Please post the Nadar link if you find it.

Nadev's site is great. But Erykah's video is blocked, may be it is posted somewhere else? Love her music - quite a few great songs by her.
  Thnx

p.s Unless U're talking @ her latest "Window Seat", I can understand it was removed, though CNN gives the explanation > http://www.cnn.com/2010/SHOWBIZ/Music/03/2...dex.html?hpt=C2
