I'll be leaving Detroit for Washington DC the middle of next week and will have time to shoot on the return trip, any suggestions?

Downtown Philly has some good places.  Like Independence Hall, the Liberty Bell, the New Comcast Center, not to mention we probably have more colleges in the Philly area then any other city.  You could also go northwest of the city and see Valley Forge, although that is more landscape, but nice.  Too bad you will not be leaving 2 or 3 weeks later for that is when the blossoms start to come out.

If you want to go a bit out of the way you could go to Columbus, Indiana (but hey, you're a savy guy and have probably hit it already).

I second the suggestion of Philly (I live there). However, I'd also suggest Cleveland (I'm from there). In terms of architectural significance, there's the Frank Gehry building on the campus of Case Western Reserve, and the new addition to the Cleveland Art Museum (also on Case's campus) is quite nice visually. There's also the Shaker Lakes area of Shaker Hts, which has some wonderful homes. And the Warehouse District downtown has some great buildings. Also worth shooting if you're into industrial architecture is the old industrial portion (not the entertainment district) of the Flats area downtown.

Guys, Thanks for the suggestions.  I'd heard of Columbus but I've never visited, I'll need to do some research on both Philadelphia  and Cleveland.  How about West Virginia, is there anything of interest there?  Jim
