Native RAW Viewer for Win7/Vista
« on: March 11, 2010, 12:00:42 pm »

I found this shareware (free, but donation would be appreciated) utility that allows native browsing and thumbnailing of most RAW formats using Windows explorer.

http://www.fastpictureviewer.com/codecs/

Supports both ICC2 and 4 Profiles using either method of Windows Color Management  (ICM 2.0 or WCS).

Nice find, Joh!

Directory Opus will also show raw files and allow you to do a little bit with them.  Of course, it's far more than just a raw viewer, but if you do any sort of file management under Windows it's a superb app and can be an Explorer replacement.

I second the recommendation for Directory Opus as a file browser. Can't live without it!

I have been using Breeze Browser as a fast viewer and organizer for images for several years and I find it superb, but I will try out the fastpictureviewer as well. Thanks for the link.

What does the codec pack win you that grabbing the specific codecs for your cameras doesn't?  Just support for everything without having to dick with multiple downloads?  (I think I'm using the adobe dng, canon raw and panasonic raw codecs.  3 downloads.)

Can be an Explorer replacement! Should be more like.
Probably one of the best bits of software I've ever used. My only criticism is that is not available for the Mac. I have to use Fusion to run Windows to be able to use DOpus, but still quicker/more efficient than using any Mac software.

Go here DOpus info to get info on what it can do.
