PhaseOne H20 tethered on Windows7 64-bit
« on: March 05, 2010, 03:36:28 pm »

Hi

I am new to the Luminous Landscape Forum, so hopefully I am posting in the correct area and hopefully someone can help. I have a PhaseOne H20 which I was assured would work tethered with a new Windows PC I intended to have specially built. Sadly it doesn't. The latest PhaseOne 64-bit driver is installed and Windows device manager sees the H20 and states it is working correctly but Capture One 5.1 gives an error which seems to be related to the Firewire card. Has anyone out there successfully tethered the H20 to a Windows 7 64-bit machine?

TIA

Are you using one of the firewire cards that has been specifically tested?

If you contact your dealer they'll be happy to help you isolate and fix the problem.

Hi Doug

Many thanks for your reply. The answer is not a simple yes or no, this has been going on for ten days now. PhaseOne specify certain Firewire cards but do not specify which versions of Windows they have been tested with. We fitted the Belkin 3-port -802 which is supposedly tested and supported by 'Windows' on their web site (problem is they don't specify which version of Windows), however tech support claim it is 'clearly not supported' and it doesn't work. Other Firewire cards (all with Texas Instrument chip-sets) have been tried with no success. I am still awaiting a definitive answer from PhaseOne tech support but the problem seems to be that they simply have not done any Windows 7 64-bit testing.
The most recent card they suggest (but has not been tested with Window 7 64-bit according to Phase One) is this:

http://uk.insight.com/apps/productpresenta...26x%3D0%26y%3D0

So I am looking at buying a $100 Firewire card which still may not solve the problem, and if it doesn't PhaseOne seem to have no more suggestions. My own PhaseOne dealer said I should have just bought a Mac instead. So why is C1 5.1 written for Windows and why did PhaseOne assure me it would work?

Very frustrating.

Sincerely
