Recommendations for monitor calibration tool?
« on: February 27, 2010, 08:37:25 pm »

Hello -
I'm new to Aperture 3, and will be using it with an Intel Core 2 Duo 2.53 MacMini and a 2005 Apple 20" Cinema Display (with CCFL backlight).
I'd appreciate recommendations for a monitor calibrator with the best quality/cost ratio.
Thanks!

An Eyeone Display 2 is an excellent choice.

I just purchased the X-Rite EyeOne Display 2 a couple of weeks ago.
Using with MacBook Pro 2.66 8GB DDR3 (June 2009) & LED Cinema Display (24" flat panel).
Works great! Prints from the Epson 3880 match the monitor.
Had the Huey Pro, however I get much better results from the EyeOne Display 2.

Thank you Theodore and Stuart. I'll go with the EyeOne Display 2.
You might look into the ColorMunki Photo before buying the EyeOneD2 (both are from X-Rite).  I think it is a little more money (I got one new for c. $300 US after a $50 rebate they were offering a month or so ago), and I can't remember my exact decision path, but it will provide printer and paper profiles as well as monitor profiles.  I had a little trouble getting it set up (MBPro, 3 different second monitors), but one round w. tech support and I was good to go.  I can't compare it to anything but the built-in calibration in OS X.  The ColorMunki works very well.

Thank you! I'll look into this too to find out which is best for my needs.
