Sorting photos by orientation
« on: February 23, 2010, 02:11:20 pm »

Is there a way to sort a collection so that all portrait orientation photos end up in one group and all landscape orientation photos end up in another group? I want to print them separately, using different page layout options. Thanks.

Create a smart collection with Aspect Ratio as Landscape and another one with the Aspect Ratio as Portrait - very simple

Is it also possible to create a smart collection from a specific folder and not from the whole catalog?

Sure -- add the rule "Folder [Name] ... Contains ... yourfoldername" to the Smart Collection rule set.

If you do this, you will find that "square" is also an orientation.

After hitting on 7 forums (including Adobe's) when I searched for the answer to this, you are the first person to actually explain properly how to achieve this. Thank you.
