Hasselblad H4D: A killer of what? Leica S2 or Hasselblad H3D?
« on: February 15, 2010, 02:29:42 pm »

Hasselblad's "affordable" down-graded digital camera, what would it kill? Leica S2 or its own H3D?
Clearly Hasselblad is looking for down-sizing so that it can compete with Canon/Nikon Full-frame.
So it's really aimed to replace its own 645 format.

too bad!

Obviously you have some secret knowledge of Hasselblad's plan to destroy itself....

But seriously why do you describe the H4D as "down-graded"? It seems from initial reactions here and elsewhere, that the camera is being quite well received (especially for it's high ISO performance and the true focus system).

The H4D-40 replaces the H3DII-31:
- The 40MP sensor is an upgrade from an existing back with a sensor of the same 44x33mm format, going from 31MP with 6.8 micron pixel spacing to 40MP with 6 micron pixel spacing.
- The H4 body is an upgrade from the previous generation H3D body.

I see no signs of downgrading or downsizing here, let alone of murderous or suicidal intent. Check out the whole Hasselblad H system product line to get a clearer idea of Hasselblad's direction: http://www.hasselbladusa.com/products/h-system.aspx

Don't forget the built-in flash! :-)

Everything Hasselblad is doing right now is an upgrade . from the H3D II to H4D with true focus , 50 mp and 60 Mp . Phocus is worked on and perfected with constant upgrades . I think you've got your information wrong .
I think it's a great line up of products !
