LR2 Print to JPG Question
« on: February 12, 2010, 10:22:42 am »

In watching Michael's and Jeff Schewe's tutorial on LR2 I learned about the feature of "Printing to JPG", which seems to me a great feature for sending out prints to a print lab, which I do for larger prints.

My question is that it seems that the print size is limited by the largest size your installed print driver will do.  All I have at home is an older Canon I960 which still makes very nice prints but is only 81/2 x 11 inches.  For this printer the largest paper I can tell it to use is something like 14" x 18", even though it can't print that large.

So, how can I print to a jpg if I want to print something larger, say a 20" x 30"?  Can I install drivers for larger format printers even though I don't have the printer connected?  AM I missing something?  FYI, I am using a Win7, 64bit system.

Any feedback will be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Ken

Just give it a try... and you'll notice the tickbox "custom file dimensions" appearing when you select print to / jpeg.
Better to start from something homothetitical to 2x3 for a 20x30".

Thanks!  I assumed I was just missing something.

I see you are using Smugmug but for those special projects requiring wide format printing you might want to take a look at our new printmaking studio for photographers.. Jump in your car with your flash drive and come down to Reading.  We would love to give you the tour.
If you are a photographer selling your work we will give you a free 17" X 22" canvas rollprint for taking the time to visit us.
