Photoshop CS3 Actions
« on: January 31, 2010, 09:42:38 am »

I have been a Lightroom user from day 1 (currently using 2.6). I am trying to learm to use the actions in CS3. I have the book Real World Photoshp CS3 and it is very good as far as it goes. However, I want to learn actions in much greater depth than it provides. Are there any books devoted speciffically to actions? Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

I'm sure there is one (Matt Kloskowski wrote something like Photoshop Speed Tips) but actions don't lend themselves to books. They are just recordings of whatever you do in Photoshop. Get on learning core Photoshop techniques, and figuring out where you need action automation. Or just take apart actions from other people.

Lightroom makes actions less valuable - batch processing isn't something Photoshop has ever been happy to do. Photoshop also offers scripting, which I'd argue is infinitely better than actions.
