Pictures from Iceland Summer 09
« on: January 30, 2010, 01:37:50 pm »

Its been about 5 months since I came back from my Aug trip to Iceland and I've finally got round to post processing my pictures. Having been there on two separate occasions and done the tourist trail, I was keen to shoot more of the interiors so enlisted myself on one of Daniel Bergmann's courses. Despite the long days and lack of sleep, I would highly recommend camping as the best way to see some of Iceland remoter beauties.

I love the first one.  There's no sense of scale, and I keep going from large to small on it.  Very nice image, nice composition.

Is the second one (Landmannalaugar) an HDR?

Thanks for sharing. I like your photos very much. I fully  agree with your comment about camping but one needs to be warned that weather can be  "serious" even in the summer months.

Thanks all.

loonsailor - The second one is indeed a hdr from a single shot. I used a 0.6 nd grad to keep the exposure and during post processing used topaz adjust to bring back some the the detail.

francois - I almost forgot about the wind, yes camping in Landmannalaugar required some large rocks for pinning down the tent although thankfully I think the wind wasn't as bad during our stay.

Nice images indeed. Iceland is on my wish-to-go list maybe in 2011
