I looked out my hotel window in Barcelona and this is what I saw across the street.

Cheers,

Continuing the theme of windows:
Manhatten Canyon (in which I was nearly run down trying to grab the shot in the middle of a hectic New York street!

Seamus, Fabulous shot. Berenice Abbot would be proud.

Thank you all for your comments. I'm flattered.

This is in response to Christopher C: I went back to the original raw images - there were only three - and followed your advice. I'm not sure I got it right.
Bests regards,
Seamus

I like this one.

I don't want to look pedantically - but I believe some perspective correction in some image
manipulation program like PS could help getting that fully 100% orthogonal look and give a certain
'punch' I was thinking of. Maybe you also might want to lighten some of the dark tones of the window
washer person to get more detail.

I'm messing with some of your artistic decisions here and want to state that these ideas of mine are
just pure subjectivisms.

Great image and thanks for sharing !

Cheers
~Chris

Agreed about the perspective correction, Chris - I confess to being a bit careless about it which is a major omission when submitting something on a forum like this. Mea culpa. I've tried to extract some more detail from the cleaner guy but to be honest, there isn't anything worth talking about.

Thanks again,

Seamus

I was out walking the camera one evening in Sydney, Australia and spotted this.

Enough already with the windows, I hear you say! So here's a parting shot. It's a window in Kilkenny Castle, Ireand.

Cheers,

Seamus

Seamus, That's beginning to look like a pretty fabulous portfolio. Have you thought about a submission to LensWork or putting together a dozen of them for B&W's next portfolio contest? If you haven't, you should.

Eric and Russ:

I'm chuffed beyond belief that you think so well of the stuff. You're setting a very high bar, though, but, heartily encouraged and more than a little astounded I'll press on and submit a few more here as they come to hand  if it's o.k. with you.  Your opinions, plus the views of any others who care to comment, are invaluable and deeply appreciated. Rest assured: I am on a deep learning curve here!

This is one of the houses in Barcelona designed by Antoni Gaudi:

New York:

[attachment=20054:NY_tall_small.jpg]

Finally, this is at Ground Zero, NY in 2004 when work was under way on the restoration of the site and surrounds. This damaged nearby building was draped in a fine protective material, and when I looked at it, the hair began to raise on the back of my neck.  I had already  spent the morning photographing some very poignant scenes and was deeply moved. My immediate thought was: Shroud. But as I slowly raised the camera, I change my mind. No, I thought, it's  Resurrection.  The image may mean absolutely nothing to anybody viewing it here, but to this day, it disturbs me. I'm sure it doesn't belong here but I thought I'd share it anyway.

That's definitely my parting shot on this thread at least so thank you, one and all for your kindness. Although I've been a member since 2004 and contributed my fair share of posts until a bout of ill health intervened, I've never uploaded images to any site - this is my first.  Hence my utter astonishment at how well the stuff has been received on what, in my opinion, is the best photography website in the world.

Cheers,

Seamus.
