They have a problem. It breaks my heart to say it because I loved my Leicas back in the sixties and seventies, but the Leica M is now so far behind the state of the art that it'll never catch up. Oh, there's a big rush at the moment to buy the M9, but it comes from rangefinder diehards and people who are convinced that owning an M9 will turn them into Cartier-Bresson. The rush will peter out pretty soon, especially considering the problems with the camera that have carried over from the catastrophic M8. Leica knows this, so they're attempting to stay in business with boutique cameras people can wear as jewelry. I wish them the best of luck, but I'm afraid it's not going to happen -- especially if they disgust their potential customers with inexcusable fiascoes like this one.
