returning from my reportings in the fields around our house it was already to dark to make photos. Normally I never use flash, some kind of stupid law in me is saying: "You only shall and may use available light".
But not that evening. On the path over the dyke was a herd of sheep doing very sheepish things and something in me started to laugh. "Use the flash, Bert". So I popped up the flash on the d200, took care it would underexpose some 2 steps and would light up just before the shutting of the second curtain. The result was pleasantly hilarious, but different from what I expected:

I wasn't sure what to expect from the dark thumbnails, but was pleasantly rewarded by my clicking on them.  I, for one, welcome our new sheep overlords, even if I may have a few sheep based nightmares now.  The abstraction of the second shot is made all the more delightful by the knowledge of the subject matter.  Nice work.  If you had to only use flash on two occasions, you chose wisely.

The second one is pleasantly abstract; the fist would make a great cover for 'The Hound(s) of the Baskervilles'

Nicely done.  Sometimes mistakes bring us great surprises.

Mike and Ron, thank you both for your comments. Indeed these are the only flash-photo's I made, although I remeber having flash-bulbs in a far and distant past.
