Amateur astronomer's images rival Hubble
« on: January 23, 2010, 04:32:43 am »

A British amateur astronomer set up an observatory in his garden shed for a "modest" £20k investment.

Apparently some pro astronomers say his photos rival those taken with Hubble, albeit at a lower resolution and of nearby celestial subjects; his gallery shows this claim is not unwarranted. Those are visually striking, and I'm sure technically very challenging photos.

Very good images to look at.

He's not the only one in the UK doing this either from a garden observatory. Greg Parker who is just up the road from me has also produced some wonderful images . These can be seen at http://www.newforestobservatory.com/images/
