IJ Black Diamond Satin Canvas
« on: January 22, 2010, 06:44:07 pm »

I want everyone to know about great canvas called IJ Black Diamond Satin that's the answer to my prayers for a canvas with a high gamut that really pops! All the canvases we've tested, especially matte canvas, tends to look less than ideal. But the satin hits the spot, not too glossy and not too dull, just about right, striking the perfect balance. Also a big plus for us is the UV spray coating they offer doesn't require dilution and is a joy to work with.  The clean up is also real easy.

Interesting website for IJ but doesn't give prices or say what distributors sell the product.  Where are you buying?

OK, sounds interesting.  Some questions...

What's the texture like?  Is it towards the the fine or the coarse end of the canvas texture spectrum?

Matte black or photo black ink?

Can I coat it with water based coatings like Glamour II?

And is it commonly available, or something that must filter slowly up from the mysterious, impenetrable world of the drop shippers?

I've been working with IJ Technologies for 10 years and the canvas is VERY good. They offer a wide variety of water resistant canvases and one of the few glossy, water resistant canvases (Black Diamond) for water-based ink. For those of you who use the Epson GS6000 for Fine Art prints the SolGraphix Premium Edition Canvas is superb and doesn't need to be clear-coated.

The texture is nice, not too course not too smooth.

The Satin and Gloss use Photo Black Inks

I recommend IJ's coating.  I like it much more then the Glamour II.

We call IJ to order and they usually ship the same day we call.
