Hey everybody,
I just unboxed and fired up my new Canon Pro 9500mkii and everything is working perfectly. I need to use this printer to create portfolios with 11x14 borderless pages.
The paper I chose is Moab Entrada, so I downloaded the profile from Moab's site and got a really beautiful test letter size print (not borderless) right off the bat. I really couldn't be more pleased with the image quality.
My problem arises when I try to set up for borderless tabloid. The paper/media choice of "Photo Rag," which is what I used before, is now greyed out. If I select "matte paper" instead, the results are not good at all. In fact,
I was surprised at the difference just this media option made in the print quality and accuracy.
I spoke with Canon and I understand that the printer does not support borderless printing on photo rag, but I'm looking for a workaround and hoped someone here has found one. I can't be the only one struggling with this...
Options I thought of are; 1. creating a custom profile for the "matte paper" setting. 2. Finding a similar paper that prints well with the matte paper media setting. 3. printing on 13x19 and trimming down to 11x14. I really don't want to do #3 because I switch pages often, and if they are hand trimmed they never exactly match up and the pages become difficult to turn.
I saw in the forum that Canon "unlocked" media types for some of their large format printers, but not this one unfortunately, right?
Any help or suggestions are much appreciated.
