Some time ago I ran into a minolta 58 1.2 lens in prestine condition. The lens was cheap, and a perfectly working minolta x5 was attached to the lens. I could not resist it and bought the combination immediately. For 20 euro's more I got a 4 100 minolta macro with it.
At home I started testing the lens and happily I found out the 1.2 58 delivered fine results. The only thing was a return to chemical photography. So I wondered if the 58 would fit on the nikon d200. For that I bought -against my better knowledge- an adaptor with some extra glass (to make it work on infinity) in it on e-bay. Of course the results were horribly soft, it was evident reflections bounced between the sensor and the lens. Though, for some occasions it might be fun.
Then someone told me that Canon could swallow almost any lens, at least all the nikons and with some adjustments also old minolta-stuff. For some 90 euro's adjustments could be made. Looking on the www I soon found out a whole community existed from people that were adapting all kinds of gear to impossible mounts. And of course I found out the the new micro 4/3 took all kinds of adaptors, including old minolta mc.
I imagined a small lumix g with a giant minolta 1.2, now 116 mm and with only the sweet central spot for imaging. That must be a hell of an availble light combination. With an oly pen and vr I could photograph virtually in the dark.
Does anyone have experiences with this?
this image was made in the city of Leeuwarden (Friesland, Netherlands) from some christmas-lights lol.
