I like the quarter-turn rotation... A first look makes me think of plumes of smoke from a chimney in strong wind. The cold light blue background, without any detail is well choosen. It gives a simpler image and a stronger one too.

this is a highly effective image  living in Canada most of my life i can identify with it. Thanks for sharing
