FS: Oconnor 505S pro fluid head mint condition, barely used
« on: January 05, 2010, 06:14:19 pm »

Hello,

EDIT CORRECTION: head is an Oconnor 515S model #, NOT a 505S.

We purchased this head around 10 years ago and used it only for 5-8 panning motion still automotive shots.  It has been stored in a Lightware case ever since.

This head will support between 25-30lbs.  Oconnor quit making it a few years back.  When I spoke to the tech at Oconnor (and they rep 3 brands now, including Sachler) his opinion was that it was the very best head made for DV video, but at the time, nobody was willing to spend that much on a head.

This head shows zero use, except for some imprinting on the rubber quick-release pad from camera mounting.  There are no scratches, marks, leaks whatsoever.  All the functions work as they should and smoothly at that.

It comes with the aforementioned quick-release camera plate, a standard round/flat tripod mounting base with a 3/8 thread and a medium and a long multi-position handle.

It will accept the following base options:

100mm ball base 08365
100mm tie down 08368
Mitchell base 08281
Mitchell tiedown 08110
150mm ball base 08278
150mm tiedown 08279
Sachtler/Vinten base 08349 (no tiedown required)
Claw ball base 1030-133
Claw ball tiedown 08070

This head, though a bit hard to find info out about, is equivalent in quality to heads costing from $2700-$4000.

We bought this new from our local supplier and were the only folks to use it.  It was never let or rented, and was only used those few times for still work.

Pictures of the actual head are shown here:  http://www.juliantracy.com/OconnorHead/

Please call with any questions, studio shut down two years ago and I'm just now selling off the rest of the stuff.

Selling the Oconnor head for $1900 shipped with insurance to the lower 48.

Thanks,

Julian Tracy
