Thank you!

Part of the joy of photography for me is the experimentation and opportunity to learn. What I've learned thus far about panos is that all the details related to obtaining a good exposure increase dramatically when stitching images together.

The first detail is that for the sake of management, you have to look closely at what you’re going to end up with in print. My first test was done with the camera in landscape, and the end print was very long. Due to this it wouldn’t have made an easy to produce or manage print because of the layout. The first one, done in landscape would have measured about 12” by 48” had I gone for a largeish print.

The 2nd detail is that it’s really, really critical to get the camera level and to use a good tripod. I'm gonna have to find a bubble level to carry with me.

The 3rd is that color balance tends to shift. The 4th is that choice of focal length becomes very important.

The 5th detail is that panos really tax the computer’s performance. The files become huge and doing a save can take 15 minutes or more. I've come across a couple of instances where PS says it doesn't’ have enough RAM to work. I'm pretty sure this is a bug in how PS allocates and de-allocates RAM as if I exit and go back in (thereby freeing up the RAM), the problem is solved. All these add up to patience needed when working with panos.

And I'm sure I’ll learn many more details in short order. I've worked with only a few panos. Its definitely worth the efforts.

So give it a try!
