Determining Currently-loaded Monitor Profile
« on: January 04, 2010, 06:34:54 am »

Can anyone tell me how to determine which monitor profile is actually loaded into my video card LUT in Windows 7 x64 at any given point in time?

Thanks,
Bruce

Go to control panel. Type color management in the search control panel box (upper right).
Select color management from the search results.
You'll get a list of all the profiles you have for your monitor. The current profiles is shown as the default.
You can select all your color managed devices from this window.
Probably a faster way to get this but this works.

Type 'color' into the Search Box from the Start Button and choose it from there, saves going into Control Panel.

X-Rite has a free download called "Displayprofile" which is a very simple program for Windows OS. This program instantly loads the LUTs into the graphics card when you click on the display profile in the list.  This is just as fast as the other methods listed above, and at the same time allows you to instantly see the differences between profiles.

I think that's the one I have on my Vista machine (I don't remember where I got it). When I run "displayprofile" it shows a list of available profiles with the currently loaded one highlighted. If I then drag this small window to my other monitor, the profile for that monitor is now highlighted. Couldn't be simpler.

Thank you; DisplayProfile does the trick that I am after.  The Windows Color Management screens do not, because they are notorious for representing what should be loaded into the LUTs but which may not really be loaded at a given point in time.
