Metadata oddity
« on: January 02, 2010, 10:08:17 pm »

I've recently purchased a used 5DMk2 body and discovered that the IPTC Creator field shows the name of the person I purchased the camera from. I am seeing the other person's name before the ingesting stage, like if I were to simply browse to the mounted CF card and check the metadata. I see it in Adobe products (PS/LR/Bridge) and I also see it in iView, both RAWs and JPGs are affected.

Obviously I can overwrite the data when ingesting, but how is this happening to begin with? How can I remove the other person's name in that field? Thanks for any help you all can provide.

Did the seller include the software CDs and USB cable?  The Canon software allows the user to do things like include the photographer's name in EXIF.   I don't remember the name of the program, but you hook up the camera to the computer through USB and run the program.  It also allows you to set other parameters as well.

I'm sure someone will come up with the name of the app.

Thank you Paul! I was able to change the info using EOS Capture. *WHEW* I was going nuts trying to figure out how the previous owner's name was showing up in the metadata!
