backing prints-too far afield in this forum?
« on: December 31, 2009, 01:42:50 pm »

large sheets of gator,
3/16"x48"x96"
I want a 102"x 24" sheet, that I can mount to.
Useless exercise, maybe-
but I want to do it.
Or likewise even longer lengths would be possible?
Forget about weight, I think I can handle that,
I'm seriously considering mounting looonnnggg panoramas like this,
I mean why not?
The barn is 50 feet long...
So can you splice gator?
I have searched for the answer, and can imagine the results, I have some small pieces to experiment with,
laminate two layers using titebond?
If I stagger the joint, would I still have to face the whole thing to hide the joint?
I have no idea, except to follow a procedure-
I have enough to experiment with, but really, making a backer for panoramas costs a bit per failure,
so any advice or experience would be helpful,
thank you,
