Quantum QFlash TTL with H3DII
« on: December 28, 2009, 09:13:16 pm »

Anyone with experience using the H3DII and the Quantum TTL module?  I've been using the TTL module with the Quantum FireXwire system on my Canon with great success.  With the move to the H3DII I bought the dedicated D19HW module and can not get it to 'talk' with the flash units wirelessly.  Example, in the Auto Fill mode, the TTL module controls EV +2/-3 when hooked directly to the flash.  But when run through the wireless system nothing happens. (though the flash does fire).

Any help would be appreciated.  Quantum is closed this week and the Hasselblad tech with experience is on vacation.

Quantum QFlash TTL with H3DII

I had a H2D which worked with D19W adapter, wireless FreeXwire Transmitter (FW9T) and FreeXwire receiver (FW7Q) with no problem.  But when I upgraded to H3D-31, I had the exact problem that you are encountering right now. The wireless function with FreeXwire did not work at all. The adapter only worked tethered directly to Qflash.  I was told by Quantum support that I needed to upgraded to D19HW which is what you are using now, to work with my H3D (1st generation) and the current H3D-xx II also.  I have not upgraded to the D19HW yet to see if it works or not, I am just using the Qflash tethered to my old D19W now.  So now I am finding out that the D19HW does not work with the H3D-xx II also, unlike what Quantum support told me.

Thanks Paul.  Will post what I find out.  Quantum is shutdown for the week and the correct Hasselblad person is on vacation.

There is an upgraded model that is supposed to work with the H3DII. I had asked about this over a year ago and told it was in the works. After I sold all my quantum flashes, I got an email that the upgraded quantum TTL adapter was now available. This was within the last 6 months. M
