dpi from other cameras?

That number is just a tag attached to the image file.  The ppi only matter when you print - the number of pixels is the same whether it's at 72 ppi or 300 ppi; one used to be the standard for screen display and the other is common for printing.  It can be changed at will in the image editing phase and has no relevance to "resolution" until it's displayed somehow.  A pixel is a pixel...

dpi from other cameras?
« Reply #1 on: August 24, 2005, 10:43:13 pm »

Just wondering I have a friend who has a Nikon 100d his pictures always read out at 300 dpi.  I have a KM 7d my pics read out at 72 dpi.  If his camera actually does 300 dpi would not he have much more detail and larger files then those from my 7d?  Somebody inform me as to what is going on here.

TIA
