Renaming ICC profile files
« on: December 12, 2009, 05:57:13 pm »

Is there any reason not to rename an ICC profile file before installing it (Windows)? Some profile names bear precious little relationship to what they are for!

It won't help. The filename of the profile isn't what is shown in applications, it's the internal profile name that doesn't change even on file rename. There was a thread recently in this forum with a list of renaming tools for Macs that you can use to change the name. On recent PC OSes (newer than XP) I haven't found any good tool yet

It likely does, but if all you want to do is rename a profile buying an app for $149 is kinda steep
