Not a sunrise
« on: December 12, 2009, 05:32:40 pm »

I got out of bed at six in the morning and drove to the beach to shot the sunrise. But we had a complete overcast that morning, and the sun could not be seen for the entire day. Disappointed, I decided to look down to take some photographs of the rocks; and this is the result.

C&C appreciated, as usual.

Very ethereal, and dreamy. I specially like the B&W. I would print it big. I want to look out of the left border of the color one. I think of burning the left edge or lightening the rocks. Really like the colors, though.

I second Matt's comments. The B&W photo has a more surreal look. The color image doesn't demerit at all.

May I disagree and prefer the colour one?

Both very nice disappointments though

Most anyone could take that picture with the sun.  But this hazy ocean and rocks.... ROCKS!

Nice work!  I'm partial to the colour one, but they're both great.

Both are good. I prefer the color image though. The composition is more balanced. And I've always been a sucker for the soft pastels of twilight, which I prefer over the more dramatic colors of sunset/sunrise.

Pleasant?  Yes.  Disappointment?  No way!  Beautifully captured.  The two images have a very different feel from each other because of the colors (or lack thereof).  In the color image, the moss makes the image for me.  Both are excellent.  Please share more of your disappointments!
