Hasselblad dealers
« on: December 12, 2009, 04:21:01 pm »

I would like to upgrade from my H3D 39 to an H4D 60, taking advantage of Hasselblad's aggressive promotional pricing.

I'm a little concerned about the service and staying power of the dealer I bought the H3D from two-three years ago.  Any suggestions on a good Hasselblad dealer?  I'm in NYC but given FedEx and the internet it doesn't much matter where the dealer is as long as they are domestic, honest and reliable.

Thanks in advance.

Try Ulsaker Studio in Connecticut. Great dealer, outstanding support.

You should also consider Keeble & Schuchat in Palo Alto, CA. (I can't remember offhand the name of the guy there I spoke with), and EP Levine in Boston(Jay Callum). The pricing for the upgrade will not vary significantly from one dealer to another, but the service and familiarity with the product will.

Looks like you are in the New York area.  Fotocare has some excellent service.

true, it could be anywhere, but in NYC, you should be able to find someone to deal with. much easier to walk in or have someone stop by to answer questions...etc

Unless a big name's assistant is there.  Then you wait.  And wait, and generally feel insulted, and eventually leave.

Hi Woody,

Keeble & Schuchat (Randy) , EP Levine (Jay Callum), Ulsaker (Michael), Fotocare (Richard) are all excellent options and each individual mentioned is well versed in digital capture and specifically Hasselblad products.

I do offer a Hasselblad University event on the first Tuesday of each month through one of our New York dealers in which we cover the camera hardware and software, It is free but with limited seating. I also offer an H system custom coaching once a month where you can reserve a time slot and we have a one or two on one with me to cover specific questions you may have regarding the system, its operation, possibly how to customize the camera for your individual style of shooting. That discussion is based on what the photographers needs are.

Yes, I believe in local support as a dealer who has several of all the backs we support available in our demo/rental pool.  We have on more than one occasion taken care of a customer with a problem with a loaner system.  I'd be happy to answer any and all questions and it doesn't matter who or where your from.

Best,

Atlanta, Miami, DC  - we can help.

Hasselblad has a good network of dealers that offer value beyond the standard "degree of acceptability." Not all companies/people are alike, so you are doing the right thing by asking around.

FWIW, my experience with Foto Care in NYC is solid.
