Anyone get their 4880 yet?
« on: December 12, 2009, 11:00:08 am »

I ordered an Epson 4880 on Sept 23, and my card was charged. Dealer keeps saying they are back ordered. Anyone get theirs yet?

I ordered one two weeks ago and it showed up here in Texas on Wednesday. They are in stock at Precision Camera in Austin but at retail.

Many dealers received their first allotment of 4880's and shipped them all against pre-orders. Other dealers, who sell lower quantities, may have had units in stock, based on their first allotments, due to a lower number of initial orders. Dealers who sell at more competitive prices are certainly out of stock now. Epson is having difficulty with the supply of 3880 and 4880s because of a shortage of parts. We can only hope they resolve this issue soon.

I'd get a new dealer ... your card shouldn't be charged until he has shipped you your printer.  Perhaps at most a deposit, but only if you knew about it and agreed to it.
