How to unclog a 3800?
« on: December 08, 2009, 04:35:38 pm »

I've had an Epson 3800 for over 2 years and it has preformed flawlessly. Up until now, any occasional nozzle clog I have had was cleared with a single cleaning cycle. I now have a clog of a single magenta nozzle that I can't clear. I have done many cleaning cycles over the period of a few weeks. I have also tried to clean the bottom of the head with a paper towel & Windex to no avail, this was my favorite trick in the past to clean heads on older printers.

Does anyone else out there have any ideas on what I might try to clear this stuck nozzle?

Thanks!

-Jeff

I have exactly the same problem: a stubborn magenta clog that appeared after a couple of years, and it just won't go away. I tried the same things that Jeff did, to no avail. I'm curious to see if other people have suggestions.

Thanks,
Pierre

Have either of you called Epson?  It is possible for a nozzle to get permanently damaged, and the only recourse is to replace the head.

Have you actually tried soaking the head rather than just trying to clean it with a paper towel and windex?  Did your searching turn up this thread?

I put a few drop of windex on the landing pad and let it sit for a at least a day.  Run some cleaning cycles.  Patience.

I recently tried that. I put a fair amount of Windex on the parking pads and let it sit over the weekend to no avail. I also did plenty of cleaning cycles. The odd thing is, I've received several other user reports who also have a single Magenta nozzle blocked.... a very odd coincidence.
