I sold my 1Ds II camera so no longer need the L bracket, but it's great--can quickly change from landscape to portrait (horizontal to Vertical).  You must have the Arca-Swiss style of tripod adapter, such as Arca or RRS and many others.

I WAS MISTAKEN--THIS WILL NOT FIT THE III
