Sandisk Extreme Pro not working with P1 P45+
« on: November 20, 2009, 05:38:45 am »

I had the chance yesterday to meet an employee  from Sandisk Scandinavia representing the new Sandisk Extreme Pro with UDMA6 and 90 mb/s

My P45+ didn't want to save my files to the card. older cameras with non UDMA support are supposed to switch the old support but this is not the case with Phase One?

any ideas. tested this card with D3x and the speed increase was tremendous, the buffer never got full so this card could be ideal for P45+

thanks,

Bernhard Kristinn

Bernhard:

Here is a link to a Phase One knowledge base article regarding CF Card compatibility:

At the bottom it is noted that for UDMA 6 type cards, firmware 4.7 is required. Currently firmware 4.7 only supports P65+/P40+, but development for the other P+ backs is underway. Not sure of a time frame.

I can add that I bought a 32G Extreme 60 for my P45+ and it didn't work, so I left it in my Canon where it works phenomenally well.  Phase even sent me a beta firmware upgrade for the P45+ to try, and it didn't work with that either -- has something to do with the reader I assume.  Anyway, I upgraded to the P65+ and it works fine in that back, and in fact the card I am using in it now.  Only complaint is it takes about a full minute to format, and several seconds to "check" when you power up the back if you have the card check option set...  I found the older Extreme III 16's to be bulletproof in my P45+, FWIW.

That's one way to solve the problem!    Way to go, Jack!

Well, after all I had so much invested in the card I needed a way to properly utilize it
