NEC LCD2180WG-LED-SV vs newer NEC SV monitors
« on: November 17, 2009, 08:48:17 pm »

I am debating picking up one of NEC's 21" LED backlit LCD2180WG-LED-SV monitors on closeout vs. getting a new LCD2690W2 or LCD3090W.

I would use the 21" for images with another sRGB monitor to hold menus/palettes/toolbars, etc.

When released, the 21" LED version was the best wide-gamut monitor, but it has only 10-bit internal tables. The newer 2690W2 and 3090W have 12-bit, and
I assume other improvements given that they are several year's newer technology.

Neglecting size, is the older 21" still top-notch. I know it has a slower g-to-g response time. The 3:4 aspect ratio fits my images better, and I would be more likely
to use it in the vertical mode for vertical images.

Thanks for any feedback, experiences or advice.

Still awesome technology albeit, a small size by today’s standards.
