I've updated my system to Windows 7 64 bit and had to reinstall all of my software, Pksharpener included. There does not appear to be a 64 bit version. The FAQ mentions a Beta for Windows Vista, but that was years ago and they have not updated the release program in years. I tried to install into win32 and on attempting to activate, I received the message that it had been activated too many times. After some research I saw that one could contact PixelGenius support to have the install counter reset and did so via the provided e-mail link but have received no response.

I now do my capture sharpening in ACR, but find the output sharpening in that program awkward to use and have been using PK for that purpose, since I don't use Lightroom. Time to look for another option?

Did you you the Email Form at: PixelGenius Customer Support? Did you allow uo to 24 hours (usually a lot quicker) for a response?

Note, the 64 Bit version of PK Sharpener should work just fine on 64 bit Vista and Win 7. However, the 64 bit install takes an activation so if you install both the 32 bit and 64 bit, that's town machine activations...based on eSellerate's activation engine, we can't do anything about that...

AFAIK I used the e-mail form and haven't yet received a reply. However, I downloaded the 64 bit version (still listed as beta), moved the *.8li file into the 64 bit plugin folder, and activation worked! Perhaps, the counter was reset before I received any notification.

It was. Check that, as the web site instructs, you don’t have any spam blocking software because your email of 3:39:08 was answered shortly thereafter and that’s exactly why you’re not having any activation issues.

That's strange. I checked my junk folder and found no blocked message. No problem, since my problem is solved. It's nice to have you guys in this forum.

Now that I have the attention of Jeff, the  fons et origo of PK sharpener: for some reason PK sharpener is running very slowly on Snow Leopard vs Leopard on my Mac Pro. Andrew "digitaldog" Rodney kindly offered me some advice ([a href=\'index.php?showtopic=37782\']here[/a]), but it's still running very slowly. All other plugins/scripts/automations are running as fast as ever. I accept that Lightroom uses PKS (in essence), but the low volume of my work means that I tend to use Photoshop rather than Lightroom for capture and output sharpening. Jeff: any advice re getting PKS to run under Snow Leopard as fast as it did under Leopard?

Thanks Andrew, that worked. Excellent! I have PK back again, faster than ever!
[Edit: I had to reboot before the esellerate update took effect]
Would love to know the technical background to this fix.....

When any PG product launches, it calls the eSellerate engine to confirm the launch is for a legitimate, activated product or a demo or a an "expired" demo (meaning a non-legit launch).

We are dependent upon eSellerate's code in their Mac and Windows "engine" as it relates to serial number and activation verification. When Snow Leopard was released, we had to wait till eSellerate discovered their engine incompatibility and issued an update to their engine. That's why updating the engine fixes the slow launch issue. Sorry it happened, wasn't "our" (meaning PixelGenius) fault...be we are responsible since we use eSellerate...

Thanks for the explanation and fix,  Jeff and Andrew. No problem, all is working fine now. Seems that Snow Leopard caught more than a few people off guard (**cough**DxO**cough**).

Oops, spoke too soon.  Things go back to full speed after a reboot, but an hour or so later, the beach ball is back :-( Weird.

Make sure you put the issue through our tech support email form...that goes to tech support and our engineer.
