Two hands

Probably, this is my most personal shot, as it pictures me holding my daughter's hand. I took it on-the-go, under available light and without any preparation, but I already had a previous idea about what I wanted to achieve; I must confess most of the effect was achieved during post-processing. Hope you like it.

I agree, it is very appealing. And a good idea it was.

The contrast between skin tones is excellent.  You made it sentimental without making it too personal.  You captured a universal emotion, which is hard to do.  Nice work.

It's an interesting shot, but it doesn't quite work for me. I think you darkened your fingers way too much. I understand what you were going for visually, but they're much darker than the rest of your hand. That would be OK if that part of your hand were in shadow, but the lightness of your daughter's hand shows that this is not the case. That creates a visual disconnect. The overall effect is to make it appear as though your fingers are suffering from some kind of weird medical condition.

The thing is that I did not darken the fingers more than I did with the rest of the hand; but now that you have pointed it out, I must agree that it looks weird. So here is the second version, with the fingers corrected so they match the tone of the rest of the hand. Thanks.

It's definitely an improvement. The tip of your index finger (the one your daughter is holding) still looks off to me. From what you said, I guess the culprit really is the lighting, so I'm not sure how much you'll be able to fix it. But it's such a great shot I'd say it's worth playing with.

Yes, the light was completely indirect and very soft, but somehow managed to make some parts brighter that others...
I will try to fix the upper finger; thanks again for your help.
