HELP!
« on: November 02, 2009, 10:51:17 am »

Hello all LR experts.  One of my folders was showing the pictures as "offline or missing".  When I went to the source folder they were however there.  Experimenting, I right-clicked on the folder listing and hit 'Synchronise'.
Big mistake!  The catalogue effectively dumped all of the edits I had made and re-imported the files in their RAW format.  Now this is a set of 380 wedding pictures which I have spent a lot of time on.

I used the Time Machine facility on my Mac to restore yesterday's backup and then tried to open the folder in question.  It opens the folder and shows all the picture files, but there are no preview pictures at all.  The meta data is all shown, as is the history of all the edits made.  Just no pictures.  When I click on one of the files it comes up with "offline or missing" again.  The files are definitely in the folder on my hard drive.

Any suggestions. I really do not want to go back and work on all of those files again!

HELP!
« Reply #1 on: November 02, 2009, 11:46:30 am »

Hold on!  As usual, the problem could be simple.  I just noticed that the filenames are different.  When first importing the pictures I gave them a new name, which includes the clients surname.  Which I spelt wrongly.  For some reason I then renamed them in Bridge, and not my usual habit of using LR.  Therefore LR did not recognise the files as they had a subtly different name!  Lesson learned.
