Your third photo reminds me of a show I was watching on Quilting Arts. The artist used different embroidery threads and stitches to give the same kind of textured look to her art quilt as the look your photo has. I don't care for the look in a photo, but I love the look when presented 3-D style.

Matt, All three are excellent. #3 looks like the work of John Constable.
