Soft Proofing for Velvet Fine Art Paper
« on: October 26, 2009, 08:46:34 am »

When soft proofing specifically for this paper it gets an almost foggy appearance.     The usual requisite tweaking in curves, HSL, etc fails to overcome this appearance totally. Are there other tweaks more specific to the raggier matte type papers or is this just an attempt of soft proofing to emphasize the texture and muting effects of matte types compared to glossier papers.
Thanks for your help.

Local contrast enhancement helps.

Reality sucks <g>. yes, it should look that way to some degree compared to papers that use Photo Black and have a higher dynamic range, assuming you're soft proofing using the Simulate check boxes.

You're welcome. I often print on VFA and do this technique when using just a single curve doesn't cut it.
