European Pricing changes Z3200
« on: October 18, 2009, 01:30:40 am »

about one week ago advertised street prices in europe for Z3200 models seem to have changed drastically: down from about 8000-9000 to around 6000 euros (!!) for the 44ps, and from around 4500 to 2500 (!) for the 24 inch model. (according to geizhals.at/eu)

does anybody know of a reason for that - i.e. new HP printers coming up??

Quickly taking a peek at the websites of two retailers that are known for competitive pricing here in the Netherlands: Z3200 24" is still around the 4000 to 4500 euro's.

Via Kelkoo.nl there is one shop that prices the Z3200 at 2600 but that same shop has the Z3100 at 3600,--....

To my knowledge the 8000-9000 was more in the recommended price category than street price. There is also the serial number of your old wide format to give you a price reduction, then and now.

There has been a recent thread on Z prices in Germany:
http://luminous-landscape.com/forum/index....showtopic=38393
Some think the price is still too high.

Two weeks ago I got a mailing from an Epson vendor with a 30% price reduction on the Epson 11880, going by the prices mentioned in that mailing.

I think the recession has a big influence on printer prices right now.

The Z3200-PS has enough features to stay in competition with other brands. Though a 17" sheet model would be nice to extend the range. Whether new models appear is hard to say, this weekend there is the Photoplus Expo in New York, next year is a Drupa and Photokina year.

huib and ernst, thanks for the input.

i take it then that european dealers have recently started to advertise street prices rather than sugg. retail - also very reputable dealers have drastically changed z3200 prices:

i.e. amazon.de (directly from amazon - NOT from a partner):
44"ps: EUR 5924,95  -      44": EUR 4.352,45    -       24"ps for 3442,95

these do look very good indeed.
