Z3100 blobby smears & ink deposts on canvas
« on: October 03, 2009, 02:39:30 pm »

Not sure what to call these blobs and smears:

[attachment=16948:_DSC5017_2.jpg]

These blobs have ruined more than this one print.
These ones are on 450gsm canvas printed using the pro matte canvas profile settings configured for 430gsm canvas.
I then made an ICC with the onboard spectrophotometer per breathing color's instruction.
The other paper that had blobs was HP branded fine art textured hahnemuhle.
How are these ink blobs remedied?
Thank you all,
Rocco

Here is probably the solution, clean the bottom of the print heads as shown on http://z3100users.wikispaces.com/Overspray

Yeah, you have ink build up in the print head or assembly. Be SOOOOO carefult when cleaning the heads you can kill them if not careful.

Ditto.  I have had the same problems with my Z3100.  Cleaning up was a mess but I guess it is necessary with this printer.

If I’m reading the linked article correctly, the implied point is that the printer needs to be cleaned after about 60 linier feet of printing.

Does that sound about right to other readers?

Have printed over 2000 ft. of various lustre, fine art and canvas in the last year, no problems.
