Transfer photos on the fly with WIFI
« on: September 27, 2009, 11:50:38 pm »

First post here at Luminous Landscape, so hello everyone...

So this is what I want to do:
I'm looking for an WIFI transmitter that I would hook up to my Canon 20D that would be able to connect to an FTP server and automatically upload photos as I take them.

I'm not sure such a thing exist yet, so here's my second solution:
Instead of connecting to an FTP server, I would be ok with sending the photos directly on a laptop's hard drive (I realize the laptop would have to be within a few hundred feet radius at most), then someone else on the laptop would manually upload the new images to an FTP.

Does anyone know of a WIFI transmitter for Canon bodies that would do either task? Thanks a lot for any help you can provide!

Something like the Eye-Fi cards might offer that functionality although I only see SD cards in the product list. An adapter (CF->SD) might work.
Try to contact Eye-Fi: http://www.eye.fi.
Canon used to offer the Wireless File Transmitter WFT-E1/WFT-E1A for the 20D. B&H Photo lists the transmitter as "in stock" and it goes for a bit less than $700.

Thanks for the quick reply Francois! I will look into these solutions and hopefully find 1 that will workout for me.
