No History .... AT ALL ??????
« on: September 22, 2009, 03:10:41 am »

Hi Guys

Hope you can help??

Was at a clients the other day and her Lightroom is just plain WIERD !!!!

Not on all images (but a fair few) .... there is no history state at all ?!?!?
No "imported on...." no "edited in....." ........ nothing....?

Has anybody else come across this "bug".

Cheers Dave

Are you sure they haven't just clicked the ‘clear all history’ button? (the X at the top-right of the history section)

If it's the history section itself that's missing (doesn't sound like that's the problem though) right click on one of the other titles, or a blank space on the left pane and you can turn the history section back on.

Thanks ............ but it is in fact like clicking the X on the history palette but it does this randomly on it's own and when it feels like !?!
Had the client re-install but still the same. Seems to be more when edited in Photoshop and brought back in to Lightroom ..... again this should actually leave more of a history trail "in theory"

When you "Edit in Photoshop" a raw file, the photoshop file that is imported back into Lightroom won't have any history until you do something to it in Lightroom.

Go back to your original raw file, that will have the history of the actions you did in lightroom (unless you clicked the "x"), the re-imported file (TIF, JPG, PSD, or ....) will have no history, since nothing has been done on it yet.

The actions you did in Photoshop might be saved with the file's metadata, depending if you selected that option in Photoshop, however you cannot show any of that Photoshop history in Lightroom.
