Profile for Canon HW Satin 300 only for ipf 5000 not for ipf6100?
« on: September 17, 2009, 01:41:45 pm »

I just got a roll of Canon HW Satin 300 and didn't find a profile on my computer after upgrading all software recently. To my surprise the profile is not in the download link from Canon for the 6100 printer, but it exists for the the 5000 printer. I grabbed it and tried a print but it appears washed out.

Any ideas what's Canon's strategy here and what I should be doing besides having a custom profile made?

I just spent 30 minutes on the support and I wasn't convinced... He could not explain why there's not a downloadable file for the 6100 just like for the 5000.
His message is, don't worry about it, it's inside of the media configuration tool/driver when you select the Media type, and just select Auto for output profile.
I find this a bit dubious. But If this approach works from all third party apps besides the plugin, that it could work i guess.

I believe that the 5000 uses some different inks than the 6100.  Try and get a profile from the x100 series.
