I'm sure MJ did not mean to endorse Howard French's broadside at you and others. I have always felt the whole controversy surrounding your M8 review was ridiculously overblown. A cock-up is always a better explanation than a conspiracy, but it is the unfortunate nature of the internet that a conspiracy is always more likely to be believed.
By accepting MJ's apology you have shown yourself to be a true gentleman, as always.
