Filling in the geometric discrepency of panoramas in CS4PS
« on: September 12, 2009, 06:37:20 pm »

Okay,
finally upgraded to 2 gig ram and am able to make nice panoramas.
I'm hoping there is a way to fill in the 4 outside corners of my panoramas so I can keep the center frame uncropped mostly.
Cropping the corners typically takes up several inches of the 9 inch tall panorama, and consequently removes plenty of the foreground from he middle of the panorama.
Do you see?
I'd like to fill the blank part of the panorama with neighboring grass and flowers from the same image. The part of the image I want to copy and paste in the blank corner corresponds nicely to the neighboring area.
It's all random grass that looks about the same.
The corners are about 2 inches tall by3 or 4 inches long in native resolution.
Is there a way to reproduce the neighboring grass in adjoining blank areas at the bottom corners of my panorama?
I looked for an answer in my text, and have read a bit, but this is a process.
Thank you for any help.

There are different possible answers:

- Capture stage: shoot a multi-row pano and capture more images in the first place,
- Pano computation stage: project your pano in cylindrical mode instead of planar mode (not sure if PSCS4 can do this but dedicated pano software offer these options),
- Post processing stage: use the clone tool.

Cheers,
Bernard

Also, for some images Free_Transform->Warp can used to stretch the corners and other parts of the image to fit the frame.

I'll get it.
Just didn't know where to start...

bill t.
your knowledge is pretty darn thorough regarding these things!
I've discovered the transform panel-
thank you

Be careful though, don't depend on warping too much because it soon leads to strange looking pictures.

Best to use the good techniques Bernard mentioned whenever possible.  I am often forced to resort to good technique to get good panos.
