Scanning a 13 x 17" print
« on: September 10, 2009, 06:49:16 am »

I'm looking for the most accurate means to digitize a 13 x 17" print to CD. I printed a photo many years a go from Kodachrome 64, but have misplaced the slide. Anyone know the best way to scan a printed image of that size, no cost limitations? Any suggestions on companies that will do this? Thanx.

I have used an 8.5" x 14" scanner (Microtek M1) and scanned 3 sections sideways then stitched them with PTGui works well

Depending on the quality you need, many photo shops can scan this for you including some of the Kinkos etc.  Since you only mention the one print - hardly makes sense to buy something but I have an old epson 836xl scanner which does a fantastic job and will do 14x17- and I think you can buy these on ebay for a few hundred now.

If you are looking for the highest quality scan you can get, I have a Cruse Fine Art scanner.   I charge 25 cents per square inch.  No megabyte charge, fee simple.  At that physical size it can be scanned at a true optical resolution of 1000PPI.
